THE SAME SEX WEDDING PICTORIAL

Pictorial consumed much of the time during the wedding of Romeo and Joyce. Taking photos from the whole wedding entourage to the distant friends of both sides, can you imagine that?

The newly wed- Romeo and Joyce with their groomsgay and gay of honor.

It's the same old traditional pictorial yet, I wanna share the wedding pictorial with some basic fundamental rules I've learned to get better in photography from the book Digital Family Album Basics which I applied on this special occasion.

We all know that even professional photographers take hundreds of images without hesitation because they know that the more pictures they have to choose from, the better chance they'll get just the right one. Although you can learn ways to better compose a picture and to ensure that the lighting and other elements are properly set, you can't control the expression on your model or the chance that a person will walk in front of you or anything will be into the scene just when you push the shutter.

Like what happened on the photo above. the blouse of the bridesgay (extreme right) flipped up.  Good thing I took another random shot (below).

You can lie down on the ground and look up at your subject; climb a tree and look down on your subject.  Charm!

It's easy to get used to shooting with the camera horizontal because that's how it's most comfortable to hold.  But try to experiment with different camera positions- you may even find turning your camera to an unusual angle.  It helps capture the energy of the moment.

When photographing people, don't just take shots of them standing around looking at the camera,

look for an action,

search out things they can interact with

and don't be afraid to ask them to do something
and the photo shoot will be a lot more fun!

It was an occasion full of joy and satisfaction.  We had fun doing as if it was a real wedding.  Ha-ha. It was just a fulfillment after all.

THE SAME SEX WEDDING CEREMONY

Red is my favorite color and I was more delighted when I knew that my Bes chose to wear red gown on her/his wedding day.  Brides around the world have again started embracing the red gowns.

In India, a red saris is a common for the bride to wear.  It symbolizes good luck and will bring much happiness to the couple.  Japanese bride on the other hand, often wear red kimono dresses.  It symbolizes sexuality in marriage.  Chinese brides wear the color red to bring them joy, luck and prosperity in their marriage.  Brides in the United States wear a red wedding gown as a bold fashion statement.

In the 1980's a red wedding gown was considered a luxury color by royalty.  It started embracing again in European countries and even here in the Philippines.  My Bes chose the red wedding gown for himself/herself not because she's a fan of Ms. Regine Velazquez but she opted for a dress that is more true to her own self-expression or of something she/he believe in.  Red is a symbol of love for many brides but for her/him, the choice of red wedding dress is cosmetic.  He/she wanted to stand out on her wedding day.  It accentuated her/his confidence and independence.

Here are some photos during the wedding ceremony:

THE SAME SEX WEDDING IN THE PHILIPPINES- Part 2

Here I continue the same sex wedding which was happened on July 09, 2011.  Joyce chose to wear the red gown by Nonoy Jaranilla and inspired by Ogie & Regine's wedding including the floral bracelet.

The wedding rings symbolize everlasting love. The wedding bouquet is a symbol of fertility :-)

Like Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, the bride did her own make up too!  Not to mention, she is the make up artist of the Kapuso network- GMA 7- Iloilo.

Meet the bride and the groom:

Romeo & Joyce

The maid of honor & the bridesmaids were there to support the bride in the stressful times during the wedding.

The ceremony was about to start.  It was the most exciting part of the said red gay wedding of the year 2011.

THE SAME SEX WEDDING IN THE PHILIPPINES

July 24 was the day that New York State Marriage and Equality Act went effect which was signed into law by the Governor.  The Town of North Hempstead opened the Town Clerk's Office to issue marriage licenses and perform weddings.   In Philippines, the Metropolitan Community of Metro Baguio held a same-sex mass wedding the following day, June 25, 2011.  The mass same-sex wedding was officiated by the pastors of MCC-Metro Baguio and was participated by eight of lesbians and gay couples.

On July 09, 2011 a same-sex wedding happened in the island of Guimaras particularly at Rumagangrang beach on the top of the searock formation as the wedding venue.  It was a destination wedding. Only a few selected guests were invited.  We traveled from Iloilo City to Guimaras island and stayed there for two days and one night.  FYI, since 2009, destination weddings continued to see growth compared to traditional weddings.  A lot of couples these days opt for destination weddings for a smaller size and less expensive.

THE WEDDING DECORATION

Wedding decorations are the centerpieces of the ceremony.  They are essentials in creating the wedding scene.  The most common decor that you will find in any wedding is the flower arrangement.  Shyne who is a wedding planner slash director know what is best.  He is the one who helped organize and coordinate the activities and tasks needed to execute the Romeo-Joyce wedding and made it happened.   He is the most creative in that field.  The rest of the AVATAR members were there to support as well.  That's one of the good traits I learned from them.  "Walang sapawan!"  Be the top scorer (back to zero)-Wilma zero, KC two( mga ganyang banat).  Ha-ha

THE WEDDING FLOWER:

Tulip is the only wedding flower that Shyne chose.  Oh well, tulip's native range extends from as far west as Southern Europe, North Africa, Anatolia, and Iran to the Northwest of China.  However, there's always a substitute.  Shyne used specialty paper as an alternative.  It turned Tulips in variety of colors- pink, purple, white and yellow.  The tulips were also in the wedding bouquet.
