Crochet is a popular art not only because it produces a wide variety f beautiful fabrics for many different users, but also because it requires very little in the way of equipment.  All you need is a hook and some kind of thread- anything from string, straw, or strips of gingham to silk, angora wool or ribbon. 

Crochet can be worked in rounds or rows to any shape or size in a vast number of patterns using a few basic stitches.
